Explained to Annabel this eveing about how she will get around in her cast in a wheelchair. It's the first time she has got upset. She does not want to go to school in a wheelchair. Hopefully the can arrange home tuition - how I will organise things though, with work, I don't know. But needs be - and I will do anything for her.
I explained about the broomstick plaster and showed her some pictures of a boy in a cast in his wheelchair. I think the more we talk about it the better.

Hi
I have two children who have/had perthes - I also had it myself as a child.
You are more than welcome to access the site I set up for families with a perthes diagnosis at www.perthesnz.bravehost.com - there is lots of info on the latest therapies and treatments, a full medical glossary explained in plain english, a FAQ's section that might help too! In the therapies section, there are links to photos on another site with exercises etc that may be helpful. I am trying to access more photos to link in, but it all takes time!
You'll also find links out to the journey through perthes that my kids and others have taken on the 'perthes stories' page, also on the message board are further stories.
Email address to contact me is on the front page too, if you want.
Donna
